Use and sale of fireworks within Show Low State law requires that cities and towns allow the sale and use of certain types of fireworks (called “permissible consumer fireworks”) during specific periods of the year. The state law went into effect on July 3, 2015. The law allows “permissible consumer fireworks,” which are defined as ground and handheld sparkling devices, cylindrical fountains, cone fountains, illuminating torches, wheels, ground spinners, flitter sparklers, toy smoke devices, and wire sparklers or dipped sticks. Based on state statute, local businesses may sell permissible consumer fireworks in Show Low from May 20 through July 6 and December 10 through January 3 of each year. Use of these items is allowed from June 24 through July 6 and December 24 through January 3 of each year. If Stage I fire restrictions are adopted by the City of Show Low, then the authorized sale or use is suspended until the restrictions are lifted or the time period expires. The use of any fireworks in the National Forest or on Tribal lands is always prohibited. In addition, the sale or use of any type of fireworks that rises in the air, flies above the ground, explodes or detonates is still prohibited statewide and within city limits. These prohibited items include firecrackers, bottle rockets, sky rockets, missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinners, torpedoes, roman candles, mine devices, shell devices, and aerial shell kits or reloadable tubes. #showlowaz
