Bluewater Institute for Massage Therapy
Description
Bluewater Institute for Massage Therapy (BIMT) is an advanced education & training program for professional massage therapy certification. BIMT's Massage Therapy program is designed to prepare the student for licensure as a massage therapist in the state of Alabama, although the program may be applicable to other state requirements as well.
Classroom hours for the program are from 6:00pm until 10:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, with adjustments to be made around holidays or inclement weather conditions as needed at the discretion of the Director.
Student Clinic massage hours will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:30am-6:30pm based around student availability. Other days are possible under the discretion of the Director or Assistant Director. Please see the course description for more information on Supervised Clinical/Practical Application requirements. The length of the program is 650 hours, completed over 36 weeks.

Our comprehensive Massage Therapy Certification Program includes 650-hours of thorough instruction in the most high-demand and effective massage therapy and bodywork techniques, advanced anatomy, pathology, Kinesiology, and physiology, business development skills, therapist self-care, and body mechanics practices, as well as Student Clinic/Practical Applications to help you gain all the experience needed to begin work immediately. It is our goal to not only ensure our students a well rounded and complete education, but to empower and prepare students to take and pass the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx- which is the board exam required in all 50 states) in order to obtain a license to practice in Alabama. The MBLEx was developed by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. Our program at BIMT has been carefully structured to comply with all guidelines of the FSMTB and the AL Board of Massage Therapy.
