This program is aimed at youth around grades 6-8. Read below for more information! In Science Action Club, youth will explore their local environment and use citizen science to document discoveries, share data, and design strategies to protect our planet. Students will participate in hands-on games, projects, and investigations to learn more about the natural world. We will observe birds in our community and share our discoveries with scientists across the globe; and more specifically Cornell University. We are very excited to invite the Sedro-Woolley Police Department back for another Around the Town Heroes Storytime! In a police department there are a handful of different departments, one of them being Animal Control. Our fabulous Officer Carr, who oversees that department, will be our guest of honor. She’ll read a story, tell us exciting details about her profession, have her vehicle on display, and maybe even introduce a furry friend. Don't miss this exciting Storytime next Tuesday March 7th starting at 11:00 a.m.!

Sedro-Woolley Public Library: Ready Reference
Fake news has been a real growing concern lately. As a library we would like to reiterate how important it is to verify any unknown articles read on the internet. Here is a great resource from Columbia University Libraries on how to evaluate online sources: http://library.columbia.edu/locations/undergraduate/evaluating_web.html You can also find this link on our website under the "Web Links" portion of the site. Around the Town Heroes: Sedro-Woolley Police Department Storytime
A special thank you to our very own Sedro-Woolley Police Department!! What a fun and informative time we all had at our first ever Around the Town Heroes Storytime. Guests loved listening to Detective Eaton read one of his favorite stories. All the kids were enthralled with Officer Wagenaar showing off some of her important police gear. Everyone especially loved visiting in all the different kinds of police vehicles with Detective Eaton, Officer Wagenaar, and Officer Carr. SWPL, and I'm sure our Storytime guests, look forward to hosting the Sedro-Woolley Police Department again in the future!
2016 Harvest Party
Our Harvest Party this past Saturday carried on through the wind and rain. All who attended had a blast! The community garden beds were cleaned out and re-planted for next year’s bounty. The kids (and adults) had a great time helping with the garden beds (digging potatoes seemed to be their favorite), making corn husk dolls, and they even started an impromptu dance party, and of course the refreshments were delicious as always. Thank you to all who came and participated. Our community garden beds are a great way to help provide free food throughout the harvest season for everybody to benefit.

Our staff has been working tirelessly to create some open space for patrons to relax and enjoy reading, using electronic devices or talking (quietly, of course). And almost all the new furnishings cost nothing or next to nothing!
