(Play trumpet fan fare!) Sault Animal Hospital has a major announcement!! After a long and careful search, we have found a veterinarian to join our team! Starting this June, Dr. Sara Alves will be joining the crew! Dr. Alves is a 2018 Graduate of Kansas State University. She is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, including equine and farm animals, especially in regards to reproductive issues. "I was very selective about the next veterinarian that I wanted to bring aboard. I wanted to make sure that the new vet would continue to provide the same level of care that our clients are used to. Dr. Alves is very skilled and has my full confidence." (Dr. Jeff) Dr. Alves will graduate from Kansas State University with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, a Masters of Public Health, and a B.S. in Animal Sciences. She grew up with a military family and had the joy of getting to travel the world prior to pursuing veterinary medicine. She has a passion for Theriogenology (animal reproduction), and worked for numerous years with cattle, horse, and sheep/goat artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and in vitro fertilization. She also loves working with exotic animals including birds and reptiles. Dr. Alves and her partner now reside in Sault Ste. Marie with their ball python. She enjoys martial arts, traveling, and drawing in her free time.
