Why we support mandatory national GMO labeling - Campbell Soup Company
Incredible! Campbell's Soup Company announced they are going to now support mandatory national labeling of all products that contain GMO's. Their reason? Because "it is the right thing to do for business and our customers." As they say in this article on their website, their move away from the GMA's (Grocery Manufacturer's of America) stance on no labeling sets a new bar for transparency. This is AWESOME! They do say in this article that they are not disputing GMO science and that all research shows that GMO crops are nutritionally equal to other non-GMO crops. Well, nutrition is not the issue with GMO's! The real issue is we are now feeding our bodies proteins they have never seen before! All food allergies and sensitivities are a result of the body reacting to the protein portion of the food. GMO technology directly messes with the protein portion of the food (represented in the coding information in the DNA). GMO technology is not a perfect science. When they inject the DNA of one food/bacteria, etc. into the DNA strand of a seed in the process of creating a new 'pest resilient' seed/plant, they are unable to control the additional creation of errant, unintended effects on the DNA strand that then go on to tell the body what proteins to make. Hence, our body is now having to deal with new proteins it has never seen before. Problem. It's immunology and genetics that are the issue here.....not nutrition. Good job, Campbell's. I'll bet Monsanto is soooooo irate about this. http://www.campbellsoupcompany.com/newsroom/news/2016/01/07/labeling/
Doughkie's Gluten-Free Goodies
This is stunning news. To realize that all our shared work in getting corporations to realize that the majority of us don't want GMO's in our food is coming to some fruition.....well, it's stunning. The eyebrow raise here though is that Hershey's and Coca Cola have been using non-GMO sugar in their candies in other countries for a long time now. Why did it take so long here? (Feed the sheeples?) And is the soy lecithin used in their candies also now non-GMO? No mention of that. I applaud the awesomeness of this move, yet know there is still much work to be done. http://www.startribune.com/hershey-dumps-sugar-beets-because-of-gm-concerns/363498311/
