“South Pacific” is as timely as it is poignant. We are honored to have Tony Award recipient Baayork Lee stage this masterpiece in our 2018-19 inaugural season.

Executive/Artistic Director Brandt Blocker and Managing Director Natalie Barrow were honored to attend to attend “Madagascar Jr.” presented by P.S. 124, The Yung Wing School, in Chinatown, Manhattan. This talented troupe won the Excellence in Dance award at the 2018 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta. The show was directed by Broadway legend and Tony Award recipient Baayork Lee, who will be directing and choreographing City Springs Theatre Company’s production of “South Pacific.” Ms. Lee is co-founder of the National Asian Artists Project, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that recognizes the need to build bridges between the work of artists of Asian descent, and the many communities that the work can serve, from underserved primary school students to seasoned arts patrons. Ms. Lee made her Broadway debut as Princess Ying Yawolak in the original production of “The King and I” in 1951 starring Yul Brynner. In 1975, She created the character of Connie Wong in the original Broadway production of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical “A Chorus Line.” Ms. Lee has appeared in several Broadway productions, was a close collaborator with famed Director/Choreographer Michael Bennett, and has staged multiple national and international touring productions throughout her distinguished career.
