Our dear friend, wild man, poet, and Shakespeare lover John Abbott Gardiner died on October 24. Jake returned to the stage to perform the role of Malvolio in Marin Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT in 2016, after quite a few years off from professional acting. Ironically, on the day of his death, Stu News Laguna published a feature about Jake - read it here: http://www.stunewslaguna.com/index.php/component/content/category/2-police-beat Here is one of his poems, Crossing the Street in Laguna Beach: https://silverbirchpress.wordpress.com/2013/08/28/crossing-the-street-in-laguna-beach-poem-by-john-gardiner Here is another, Coyote Blues: https://silverbirchpress.wordpress.com/2013/10/04/coyote-blues-poem-by-john-gardiner Jake was a gifted, energetic, forthright, politically charged, cosmic, lusty, humorous, and deep person who lived life to the fullest. He equally loved writing poems, and performing and teaching the work of the great poet William Shakespeare. Jake was on his way to teach a Shakespeare workshop when he suffered a heart attack. His heart was full of outrage, passion, poetry, strength and love. His spirit will ripple furiously through the cosmos. We will miss him terribly.

Rafaela Raccoon is moving on to visit new friends from the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce this week! She loved it so much here, she hid in her favorite bookshelf for part of the morning. We sent her off with a mini-masquerade ball (and mask-sorting party), and she bid a fond farewell to Mr. Shakespeare before departing. Thanks for coming, Rafaela!

Rafaela the Raccoon has been enjoying her artistic vacation with us at Marin Shakespeare Company! She did some light reading, mostly comedies, over the weekend. After a intense and inspiring talk with the Bard this Monday, Rafaela set aside time to write some poetry of her own! Rafaela will be visiting us for a few more days before continuing her relay-tour of San Rafael Chamber of Commerce members. #SRChamberRaccoon
