-Tango, a Romantic Ritual, the professional theater production, serves to educate, entertain, and capture the imagination.

7-8:15 Tango 2/3 Class with Mira 8:15-11 Milonga with Live Music Live Music: Sets by Mira(vocal) and Scott (guitar) Artist Bio: Mira Barakat fell in love with Argentine Tango when she happened upon a milonga in 2006 in her hometown of Berkeley. A few years later in 2010 she moved to Buenos Aires to pursue Tango, both dancing and singing. With background and a degree in Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, Mira found vocal tango to be satisfying and expressive in new ways. She studied with several maestros while in Buenos Aires and performed in various venues around the city, including the renowned Taconeando theater. After a move to New Zealand, she sang tangos at the New Zealand Tango Festival and in Samoa representing the Argentine embassy. Since returning to the Bay Area, Mira has been an active tango dance teacher, member of the dance company Tango Con*Fusión, and has been singing tango, most notably with Scott O’Day as part of Tango Con*Fusión’s show in the SF International Arts Festival in May 2017. Scott O'Day is a guitarist dedicated to the music of tango. He has performed in Buenos Aires with members of 34 Puñaladas and Palermo Trio. Scott is in demand as a prominent tango guitarist in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he directs and performs weekly with his various tango ensemble projects. He has toured the United States with tango dance bands and is active throughout the country as a musician in the tango dance community. He has performed at numerous festivals including Chicago Tango Week, Portland Tango Festival, and San Francisco International Arts Festival. Scott is a faculty member at the Community Music Center of San Francisco, and an educator in Bay Area schools.
