This one-of-a-kind place is part of Oregon’s popular McKenzie River Trail. Previously a majestic waterfall setting, it changed when the McKenzie River changed course and went underground upstream. The river flows over the falls just a few times annually; the remainder of the time, the water emerges from the rocks underwater in the basin of the Tamolitch Blue Pool. The water is so clear that it seems to be only about 5 feet deep – but it is over 30 feet deep in many spots!
