facebook.comOur hearts are heavy as we bring news that Rebecca Ryan “Becca” Lavin-Burgher, a 2018 Eckerd College graduate with a degree in sociology, passed away on May 24, 2018—her 22nd birthday. Becca sustained critical injuries in an accidental fall on campus hours before she was scheduled to participate in our May 20 Commencement ceremony. “This tremendous loss so soon after Commencement, when Becca and her family expected to celebrate her many accomplishments, is heartbreaking,” said President Donald R. Eastman III. “We must support each other, Becca’s family and friends as we come to terms with this tragedy.” We are keeping Becca, her family and all who loved her in our thoughts in prayers. Support services continue to be provided to the Eckerd community through our Outreach Services office.
