Will the Minnesota Dental Hygienist's Association (MnDHA) Exist in 2017? This is not one of those bait and switch statements designed to draw you in and then turns into a sales gimmick. This is a real question your MnDHA Board of Trustees has been struggling with for the past year and now it is time to ask you, the members for your thoughts. The term crossroads is a cliché used frequently when difficult situations present themselves needing difficult decisions. However, in this case it provides an appropriate word picture of the decisions we are faced with. This past fall the ADHA Board of Trustees forwarded a legal document to all Constituents (States), including Minnesota (MnDHA). This document, Charter Agreement, formalizes the contractual obligations between MnDHA and ADHA. It is a common document for organizations like ours. The MnDHA Board of Trustees had concerns with several areas of the document and made the decision to retain legal counsel to review and guide discussion before moving ahead with signing the Charter Agreement. Your Board of Trustees is currently discussing this agreement with ADHA in the hopes that compromise will be achieved. The MnDHA Board of Trustees has had thorough discussions about potential outcomes. The Board is now asking for your thoughts. If compromise cannot be achieved and Charter Agreement is not signed, it is possible MnDHA would cease to exist in the near future.
