I truly am blessed and have the most wonderful students. Yesterday I was speaking to one of them and they mentioned to me how he sits and eats lunch with a transfer student who doesn't speak English very well and as a result doesn't have many friends. He said " sir we don't really talk but that's not the point just making sure he's not alone makes me feel good." Today I spoke with another of my students and a kid in his class was trying to pick on him because of his shoes. He replied, "you're not wearing them, why do you care?" As the child continued he raised his hands in his defensive position and simply said " I don't want any problems" thankfully a teacher stepped in and my student was not forced to defend himself or hurt anyone. When children like these, 10 and 11 years old, can make me proud by standing up for themselves and for others it reminds me of the work my instructors and I do.

To all of my new Sil Jun Do Black belts today is a wonderful day. You received your belts after an average of 7 years training but just so you know the journey has just begun. Now you not only get to improve, advance, but you get to pass on knowledge to those up and coming students. Joshua Espinal Vinny Demo John Della Penta Diana Fulco Bonomo Emma Mittleman Paul Della penta congratulations! You have all reminded me why I love what I do and i look forward to seeing the new chapter of your journey.
