American River College Work Experience & Internship Program
Description
The Co-op Work Experience Education & Internship Program is a program where students can work and learn through an internship or job related to their academic or career goals. Eligible students may earn college credits for their hours worked. At American River College, the Cooperative Work Experience and Internship Program (WEXP) is a unique educational plan. It allows students the opportunity to develop practical skills and knowledge by applying classroom study with planned, supervised on-the-job experience. Through the program and the Work Experience course (WEXP), students can earn college 1-4 credits while they work at a job or internship related to their academic or career goals. Work sites may be located on or off campus and may be paid or unpaid positions. Worksites must provide new or expanded learning opportunities and responsibilities. Internship placement assistance is provided but not guaranteed. Students needing internship placement assistance must go to the program website for more information at http://wexp.losrios.edu and follow the student information path. Students must have a cooperating employer by the end of the third week of the full 16 wk semester (end of the first week of an 8-week or summer session) to remain enrolled.
