This is the official page of the Town of Rindge, New Hampshire Fire Department.

**THIS PAGE IS NOT MONITORED 24/7. PLEASE CALL 911 FOR ALL EMERGENCIES.** The mission of the Rindge Fire Department is to protect the lives, property and environment of the Town of Rindge and surrounding communities when called upon.

We are a paid on-call fire department that is led by Fire Chief Rick Donovan. The station is staffed during the buisness hours of 8:00AM-6:00PM Monday through Friday. During night and weekend hours, members respond from home.

We operate out of two fire stations to provide fire protection as well as non-transport Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services to the Town of Rindge. Our fleet of apparatus includes two Class "A" Engines used for primary fire suppression, one Tanker that carries 2100 gallons of water, one Rescue truck used for EMS response as well as vehicle extrication and technical rescue operations, one Brush truck used for battling brush fires and small outside fires and one Hose truck that carries 3200' of large diameter hose (LDH) for the purpose of moving large amounts of water from a fire hydrant, pond or stream, to the scene of a fire. In addition, we utilize two Command vehicles, a boat, an ATV and various emergency response trailers that hold equipment such as traffic control devices, Haz-Mat equipment and ice/water resuce equipment.

Tonight's weekly training had firefighters practicing different types of ladder raises. Being proficient at handling different types of ladders and setting them up quickly for different uses such as emergency egress and ventilation is critical to maintaining fireground safety for firefighters or victims inside of a building.

We wanted to share a few photos from this mornings fire. The photos show the power of a closed door in relation to slowing the spread of smoke and fire to other parts of a building. The first photo is from the hallway showing the smoke and heat damage to the hallway. The second photo is from the inside of a largely undamaged bedroom. Even a lightweight hollow core door such as the one in the photo is enough to keep smoke and fire from spreading further giving trapped occupants more time to make an escape or to be reached by firefighters attempting a rescue. #closethedoor

Tuesday night, Rindge Firefighters trained on water rescue at Crowcroft Pond. A mock water rescue call where two kayakers flipped over was staged and rescuers used our array of water rescue tools including cold water suits, ice rescue sleds and many life safety ropes to complete the rescue. We recently received additional grant money that will allow us to purchase more vital, life saving water and ice rescue equipment. Great job to all the members who participated!
