His career had a span of 25 years. Jim was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and also had extensive university course work in history. Mr. Mathis has the educational and work related experience in investigative, research and documentation skills required for appraisals. During the last fifteen plus years Jim has been involved in the antique and collectible trade. Mr. Mathis never stops learning and loves his work. Jim is a graduate and has been awarded the designation from AIA of, CERTIFIED PERSONAL PROPERTY APPRAISER. Given this extensive background, Jim is well qualified to assess your tangible property needs and complete a qualified appraisal. Ruth Mathis was also a certified peace officer in the State of Georgia. Her law career included employment with the Chatham County Police Department and the Sheriffs Department. Ruth was a detective with the Metropolitan Drug Squad. Mrs. Mathis retired to raise her family and later returned to school completing a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. Ruth had a 20 year career with Savannah Christian Preparatory School(SCPS). Mrs. Mathis taught art, advanced art history, design and photography. She retired from SCPS as the Chairperson of the Fine Arts Department. Along with Jim Mathis, her husband of 37 years, Ruth has collected, bought, sold and studied many diverse areas in the antique fields.
