As your Police Chief, I am extremely humbled to be elected again as the Central Vice-President of the MS Association of Chiefs of Police for the next year. This group photo consist of the Chiefs from our Central Region and acceptance of a recognition plaque from outgoing President, Chief Joey East of Oxford PD. Great group of law enforcement leaders in our state.

Sometimes we have to take a break from all the bad stuff and spend a few minutes with those we protect. Ridgeland PD officers were honored guest at Charlie's birthday party this afternoon. We first met him during our Coffee with a Cop outreach and pleased to know he chose a Police themed birthday party. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Charlie, you are our hero !!!
The Ridgeland Police Department recently published a brochure with driving instructions for the Ridgeland Roundabout on Highland Colony. While this traffic control device has been used for several years, the reminders in the brochure should prove to be extremely useful. If you would like a printed copy, please visit the Ridgeland Police Department located at 115 W. School Street or Ridgeland City Halll located at 304 Highway 51. http://www.ridgelandms.org/wp-content/uploads/Final-Roundabout-Brochure-May-2017.pdf Also, the QR code on the back of the brochure will provide a brief video from the MS Department of Transportation which features the Ridgeland Roundabout.
Chief John Neal was a guest of Sarah Ulmer, host of The Metro on SuperTalk Mississippi, earlier this morning where they talked about driving instructions for the Ridgeland round-a-bout and Coffee with a Cop. Thank you for the opportunity and looking forward to your K9 ride along.
The Ridgeland Police Department would like to thank Kristy Daniels and the Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce for organizing the 2017 Fallen Officer Memorial Ceremony held today during National Police Week at headquarters as we recognized fallen officers within the last year. God speed to our men and women in blue. Be safe!! Special thanks to the Ridgeland High School Color Guard, Randy Keng for the welcome speech, Mayor Gene McGee for special remarks, Tom Welch for playing Taps during the release of the balloons and Pastor Kylie Hamm for benediction.
Chief John Neal and Officer Dylan Pritchard were honored to be present on Tuesday, May 9th when Governor Phil Bryant signed the bill referred to as Harlie's Law. This law will take effect July 1st and it makes it mandatory for all passengers in a motor vehicle to wear seatbelts. The legislature should be commended for their continued committment for the safety of the motoring public. It is the responsibility of the driver of a motor vehicle to make sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seatbelt.
Traffic delays are expected on Highland Colony Parkway and Natchez Trace Parkway Saturday, May 6, 2017. The City of Ridgeland will be having multiple special events on this day to include the Magnolia Meltdown and the Natchez Trace Century Ride. Please drive safely and be aware of runners and cyclists that will be in these areas. MAGNOLIA MELTDOWN is a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon that will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the Renaissance Mall located on Highland Colony Parkway. 1,300 participants are expected and course routes will take runners north as far as the Township at Colony Park and south as far as Old Agency Road/Natchez Trace Parkway. This event will be completed at 12:00 p.m. RED BEANS & RICE FESTIVAL will be held in conjunction with the Magnolia Meltdown and will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the green space adjacent to the Cspire Building on Highland Colony Parkway. NATCHEZ TRACE CENTURY RIDE is a 25, 50, 62 or 100 mile bicycle ride that will begin at 7:00 a.m. at Old Trace Park located on Post Road. 500 participants are expected and course routes will lead cyclists across Post Road onto the Natchez Trace Parkway. This event will be completed at 4:00 p.m.
