A few years ago a friend of mine told me it was "insanity" to attempt to compete with the "big law firms" in the practice of personal injury law. After being retained over the likes of Morgan & Morgan and The Kentucky Hammer himself, by a few different clients in the past month, I'm glad to report I am moderately sane. Those law firms spend more in one year of advertising than I will make in ten (10) years, but the difference is the quality of the work, attention to detail, and simply treating people how I would like to be treated. If your case isn't worth a million dollars and you go to those big firms, then you're case will be worked by someone who was in law school last year. I don't have a flamboyant stage name, but you won't be left with questions when you retain my services. I'm proud to operate in my hometown of Richmond and I am looking forward to the bright future ahead. Bring it.

Leadership Madison County is working to assist those who have demonstrated the will to recover and to live without drug addiction. Residents of Madison County have an obligation to be "our brother's keeper" and to help those in need. We all understand that we have a severely out of control drug problem in Madison County and the greater Commonwealth, but we need to do something more than acknowledge the problem with our words. We need to stand behind those who make that mistake but want to come back; those who want to live a normal and productive life again. Please like, share, and comment on this post, but do not stop there. We need money to help those who have completed a recovery program to assimilate into our sober community. Leadership Madison County is partnering with the Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women to make sure donations and go to those who have demonstrated a desire become and remain clean. Please consider running our 5k, buying a ticket even if you do not run, or simply donate to our cause. We are all responsible with dealing with this problem, please help us pick up the slack and donate or buy a ticket right now.
The drug problem in Kentucky, and especially in Madison County, is well out of control. This includes prescription narcotics, street heroin, and all of the sorts. This dance benefits those who have demonstrated a will to shake their addiction and it supports those who choose to live without the addictive drugs. We must support our fellow citizens who are working to better themselves. We all complain about the drug problem and the devastating damage, direct and indirect, it causes to our community. Please, put your money where your mouth is and donate to or attend this family-friendly event. We can do better. We must do better.
When you are oddly very hungry after a car accident... If you are in a wreck then get checked out by a medical professional to make sure endorphins and adrenaline aren't just fooling you into thinking you're a superhero. Know the difference between tough and stupid. In Kentucky, your first $10,000 of medical bills, lost wages, and other out-of-pocket expenses are covered regardless of fault if you didn't agree to pay less for a deductible (don't do that by the way). I regularly increase the value of my clients' claims by double or even by 3Xs what they were initially offered for their claim. Do not give a "recorded statement," but talk to the insurance adjuster and get an offer. Then, come talk to me and ask me if I can add value to your claim. I only take clients if I think I will add value and put more money in your pockets than you would have otherwise received. I practice personal injury law for the same reason I practice criminal justice law; because I've seen good people get taken advantage of in those areas more times than not.
I was telling someone how I practice law and how my father is a pastor. She said, "isn't that kind of the opposite of one another?" I laughed but I think she was serious. I have heard Christians talk about hiring a lawyer as if it were some 8th deadly sin. If you hire the wrong one then I suppose that could be true. There are a couple verses in the Good Book about settling before taking the matter to court; I agree with those verses. However, those verses get misinterpreted (go figure). People, Christians, are not called by God to be poor stewards of assets and finances; quite the opposite (remember the story about the servant who buried his master's money). It's not my job to convince you to have a full trial, although sometimes that may very well be necessary. It's my job to make sure you don't attempt to negotiate on your own unless you know the law. Insurance companies, prosecutors, and those who would litigate against you will not take you seriously unless you are represented by someone who knows the law.
"Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy." -Proverbs 31:8-9

"Pictures or it didn't happen!" Ever heard someone say that with a straight face? Not usually. That is basically what your auto insurance company will tell you when you make a claim, but they won't laugh. They will wait for you to produce some pictures of your injuries, the damage to your car, and pictures of the scene of the collision. Of course, if you try to live a normal life, even through the pain, and post pictures of that on social media, then they will try to use those pictures against you! Quick tips after a car wreck: 1. Check on the health of all involved but don't apologize until you know it was your fault. If you say "sorry," even if you are just sorry the other driver messed up, it will be used against you; 2. Take pictures of everything. Most drivers have a camera on their cell phone. Use it and get pictures of injuries, damages, and the scene of the accident. The insurance company thinks you are exaggerating (they think everyone is), but get the proof and remove their doubt; 3. If your vehicle is in a lane of traffic then move it over to the shoulder (if possible); 4. Don't be a tough "guy" (or "lady"). Your medical bills are going to be covered up to $10,000 (minus any deductibles you previously agreed to) so you should get checked out by a medical professional if you are injured or suspect something is not right in terms of your health. You have one life to live, don't let a little inconvenience of a hospital trip hurt you for the rest of your life; 5. File a collision report with local law enforcement; 6. Contact your insurance company to report the accident but do not provide a recorded statement until you have spoken with an attorney who specializes in car wrecks; and 7. Speak with an attorney who is well practiced in car and semi-truck accidents, we can advise you of a fair settlement and make the insurance company pay the money that is owed to you. You need to be informed before agreeing to a settlement. Don't take it to the face; protect yourself. Call the Morrin Law Office at 859-358-0300. We're a Kentucky law firm out to help our fellow Kentuckians.
