CrossFit Republic
Description
Crossfit Republic is an encouraging, results driven, family oriented community that focuses on helping people become more fit for everyday life and more. CrossFit Republic is a fitness training gym serving clients in the Republic and surrounding areas. CrossFit itself is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies, tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and professional athletes worldwide. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. Are you ready to get fit? Contact us today to get started!

Please welcome our newest CFR Coach! Sara Prosser LV1 Cert / ISSA Sports Nutrition Cert I grew up nearby in Ozark, MO. As a young athlete, I competed in horse-showing, soccer, and track. Unfortunately, I was not a gifted athlete, which led me to spending countless hours in the gym working out. I struggled with anorexia and EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) during high school and my early college age years. Through the glory or God (hallelujah!) I recovered and through it discovered my passion for complete health and wellness. I will graduate Missouri State University Spring 2018 with my B.S. in Kinesiology: Exercise and Moment Science as well as Minor’s in Chemistry and Nutrition. I was first officially introduced to CrossFit in 2014 because of “that-one-friend” who kept harassing me to try it out. I went to HOA, to cheer them on, and I was hooked. I worked for Junk Brands, traveled and attended events, such as Regionals and 2016 CrossFit Games in Carson, CA. I met my amazing fiancé all because I worked with Junk and our mutual love of the sport. We moved to Republic in July 2016 and fell in love with CrossFit Republic. We loved the people, the coaches, and the CrossFit “ministry” that illuminates from this place. As a coach, I believe in practicing our sport in the safest and most efficient way possible. I believe that consistency, focus, and discipline yield unimaginable results. I hope to encourage athletes to expect more from themselves, dig deep, and create change daily. Whether, they are wanting to compete or just blow off some steam; I want to be the coach that can help them obtain those goals. “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” - Hebrews 12:11 “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” - Hebrews 12:1 To get to know our other CFR coaches, click here! https://www.crossfitrepublic.com/coaches

What an outpouring of love and generosity this past Saturday at The Hero Showdown competition. Hearts were in the right place as it was a HUGE success where we raised a TON of money through our sponsorships, silent auction, several thank you cards to our soldiers and approx 200 shipped care packages pictured, sent to our deployed troops! 100% of the proceeds went to this cause, through the non profit - Pieces of Home led by President Jessi Neal, and thanks to Lisa Godfrey for the hours of loading and shipping the packages. Such passion for this cause. A huge thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, and athletes who came together to honor our daily heroes! Below are just a few pictures of the CFR military/first responders in our membership during the competition, but more photos can be seen of all those involved, shot by our volunteer photographer and blessing Kristy Perryman Photography! https://www.facebook.com/Kristyperrymanphotography/?fref=mentions&pnref=story #serve #sacrifice #honor #cfr #heroshowdown2017 Thanks to our vendors- Four Point Apparel, Fight For It Apparel, Got Your Six Coffee Co., Supplement Superstores, 1st Phorm, Halo Massage and J&M Barbeque!

"I joined CrossFit Republic with some hesitation, and only because my sister wanted us to get a family membership... But in the four months since we started at CFR, I already love it so much. This place is really special. All the coaches at CFR are amazing, the encouragement, drive and critiques have only served to make me improve faster. Not to mention the people here...yeah, I echo what everybody already says, it's like family. The most fit members are helping the newest ones. The camaraderie and team work is the best. No one finishes a workout alone. The early finishers cheer the rest to keep going. The laughter, motivation and good times make this place pretty fantastic. So come on, join us at CFR, you won't regret it!" -Unsolicited Post of New CFR Member #ProofIsInThePudding #Results #Encouraging #Family #CFR

Athlete Spotlight for May! Name: Heather Spence Hometown: Gaithersburg, MD Age: 46 When did you first start training at CrossFit Republic? June 24, 2013 Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I swam in High School and did Muy Thai/Shōrin-ryū in College. How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? I went to the opening but didn’t start going until I found out some of my co-workers were also doing it. So I tagged along with them. What was your first workout and how did it go? Well, I don’t remember what it exactly was, just the aftermath. I had to have people help me stand & dress for the next 2 days because I was so sore. This was in the days before the “Learn To Classes” so I just did the WOD with false delusions of being in shape and could keep up. I learned I wasn’t. Favorite Movement/Least Favorite Movement: Deadlift (biggest confidence booster to pick up that heavy weight)/anything Overhead (still scares me that I’m going to drop it on my head) What class time do you typically come to? Normally the 5:30 or 6:30pm classes What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting at CFR (before/after)? I wish I could say I lost weight but nope I just converted it into muscles while dropping 3 dress sizes. I am constantly going “ohh look at that muscle in my bicep” or “there is a faint outline of a six pack” in the mirror to myself (or even my tolerant daughter). I also know that my confidence has grown. I am not as shy, quiet or introverted as I used to be. Please share with us any favorite CrossFit or CFR moments: Most days are my favorite moments. I love that we might be sweaty & smelly but we will always hug or take pictures. That is what I love about CFR – the family. Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit? It is easy to feel intimated by people lifting heavy weights or doing the difficult gymnastic movements. DON’T BE!!! They are probably the best people to ask for help, pointers or just talk to. They don’t want you to compare yourself to them but just be better than who you were yesterday.

Which will You Choose? Let's spread the positive culture we have, outside of the 4 walls of CFR! This is a reminder about our "YOU CHOOSE" Campaign! Created at CrossFit Republic, this campaign focuses on being a positive, gossip-free, complaint-free, charitable, selfless, hopeful person who speaks life into others with their words AND their actions! Just watch how your new perspective will change those around you! Please take a FREE bracelet up at the front desk and each time you find yourself not contributing constructively to a situation or conversation, to your own personal thoughts, to your integrity... either take the bracelet off and switch wrists or literally snap yourself with it. ;) This will be a reminder to DO BETTER! It's between YOU and YOU. Time to CHOOSE which way you want to live... What do you want your legacy to look like to others, your kids, your co-workers, or yourself. You have officially been challenged. YOU CHOOSE. 💪 To motivate others to do the same, feel free to tag CFR in a situation you handled positively, inside or outside of the gym with #YouChoose 👌
