“I went to the club fair and grabbed a flyer from the University’s ambassadors. That's how I got involved. We give tours of the University and have 100 members from other professional organizations so we structure it like a family. We help each other do tours and I’m the director of special events so I help run Nevada Bound and go to Northern California and Las Vegas to recruit students. But, being able to give tours to prospective students, and seeing a positive reaction through their faces when I mention how fun our school can be is one of my favorite things. Outside of campus-related things, I have been hip-hop dancing for two 2 and half years and I like to do outreach with what I’ve learned. I’m starting up a volunteer program where I teach kids dance at the juvenile detention center.” - Joel Benavente, will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience and minor in sociology. He is the director of special events for the campus ambassadors and also helps run Nevada Bound. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Faces of the Pack is a new series designed to highlight the extraordinary and amazing student personalities found at the University of Nevada, Reno.
