Silver Circle Gallery and Art Center in downtown Putnam was established in 2008 as a venue to represent local and regional visual artists Silver Circle Gallery and Art Center in downtown Putnam was established in 2008 as a venue to represent local and regional visual artists and to enhance the abundant creative network in NECT. It has been a dynamic place for artists at all career levels to convene, connect, share, inspire and enrich our tight-knit community. Now celebrating five years, Silver Circle has been a catalyst for the arts renaissance in Downtown Putnam, has positively impacted many people’s lives, and has proudly become a respected establishment in the growing NECT arts community.

Silver Circle is a professional launching pad for local artists and fosters art appreciation through rotating exhibits, gallery talks, and arts education. The bright, contemporary main gallery offers rotating individual and group exhibits, and the alternate gallery space has a wide variety of quality contemporary fine art in a broad price range, as well as sculpture, art glass, and assemblage. There is a beautiful boutique area with handcrafted jewelry, textiles, pottery, and home goods by local and regional artisans. The adjacent "Art Alley" is a display space for a rotating assortment of local emerging artists and students.

The newly expanded P.S. Art Gallery is a space representing Pomfret School, a residential preparatory school located in the nearby town of Pomfret, to host student and faculty art exhibits. The space is facilitated by Jean-Paul Jacquet, Pomfret School artist in residence and regularly displaying Silver Circle Gallery artist.

In Addition, Silver Circle encourages the public to explore their personal creativity by offering year-round workshops and classes for children, teens, and adults.  Classes are offered in a variety of mediums for all ages and abilities in warm, welcoming environment, and are taught by gallery artists. The outreach program hosts seasonal community art projects as well.

One of owner/director Carly Martin’s goals was to make art accessible and relatable to all and to help others realize its value. “Art is a universal, timeless, integral part of the human experience. My hope is to support artists, and to cultivate respect and admiration for what they do so they can continue to make impactful work. I am so fortunate to provide a place of inspiration and learning for the community.”
