Youth Development, Healthy Living, Social Responsibility We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, millions of youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.

Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain - the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.

Are you ready? When taking your fitness routine outdoors during these cold, wintry months, be sure to keep the following in mind: Dress Brightly Dress "dry", not warm Protect your skin Wear tight clothing - this will keep good circulation in your body Don't over dress - dressing in too many layers can make you too hot and sweaty, and exhaust you before your workout is over Breathe right - breathe through your nose and out through your mouth. To help with your breathing, wear a scarf or bandanna across your mouth to trap moisture as you exhale, preventing the air you breathe back in to be so dry. If it's too cold, come inside to the Y! It's always good weather in here to workout!!

Swim and Water Safety Programs at the Y change lives. The Y provides subsidized swim lessons and water safety programs that teach this essential life skill. Seven-year-old Jason was out on the lake with his family when he had the opportunity to put his water safety skills to use after his little brother fell overboard. Following the event, he looked at his mother and said “Mommy, remember at water class they told us to turn over on our back and stay calm. Think of something happy.” More than 3,000 kids per year participate in swim and water safety programs through the Y. $500 will provide a full session of swim lessons for 10 children. Our Y helps young people develop life-long skills, build strong relationships, and form healthy habits. Change lives with your tax-deductible donation at www.bluewaterymca.com/donate
