Cal Poly Pomona Pumpkin Festival at AGRIscapes
Description
The official Facebook page for the annual Pumpkin Festival at Cal Poly Pomona. The official Facebook page for the annual Pumpkin Festival at Cal Poly Pomona.
The festival's roots date back to 1991 when the public was invited to pick pumpkins from a humble patch on campus. Since then, the patch has grown into a festival that draws thousands of people to the AGRIscapes Center at Cal Poly Pomona on an October weekend.
Today, the event features a patch with thousands of pumpkins grown by Cal Poly Pomona. It also features a four-acre corn maze specially grown for the occasion, a petting zoo, hayrides, pony rides, and the Cal Poly Pomona Insect Fair. Festival-goers can sign up to participate in pie-eating, seed-spitting, or kids' costume contests. Children can pick smaller pumpkins out of a Kids Patch or build a scarecrow, run through squash tunnels, or explore a mini corn maze in the Farm Kids area..They can learn more about farming and agriculture at Ag Discovery Lane, where demonstrations of cow milking, soap making and beekeeping are held. Visitors can play games at student-run booths, listen to live music, shop at a farmers market, or enjoy food from vendors.
The festival charges an admission fee. Some of the attractions and activities carry a fee. Pumpkins are sold separately.
After the two-day festival, "Pumpkin Fest" begins: the pumpkin patch and corn maze open for the remainder of the month (please check in advance for hours of operation.) The petting farm and hayrides are available on weekends. Admission is free during this period, but free parking is limited. If you don't want to deal with crowds or admission fee at the festival, coming to "Pumpkin Fest" may be a better choice.
We ask our guests not to bring pets unless they are service animals. We have many farm animals on site, and they don't always interact well with pets.
