The originator of dirt wings! Casual restaurant & pub; great beer (featuring CT Beer!) & food. Food Network Top 5 in the country! J.Timothy's Taverne was established in 1988. Situated on the same property as the old Cooke's Tavern at 143 New Britain Ave in Plainville, CT, it has grown to be one of central Connecticut's finest casual theme restaurants. The building dates back to the year 1789, and was always a favorite stop for travelers along the Old College Highway. For over 225 years the Taverne has opened its doors to all and has hosted and shared many very special events. Today, J.Timothy's Taverne continues the tradition that Cooke's Tavern started many years ago as being one of Connecticut's favorite gathering places. J.Timothys fare consists of everything from appetizers and sandwiches, to steaks, seafood, chicken, many other favorites and of course, our award-winng chicken wings! It boasts many different private dining rooms to accommodate groups of all sizes.

On #InternationalWomensDay, we’d liked to sing the praises of two women who are indelible to our success and make us a family, but don’t always get the attention they deserve. On the right, Sylvia, co-owner with her husband Tim, who’s been instrumental behind-the-scenes since Day 1 when they, with Jim, purchased the restaurant in 1979. Sylvia does so much; from taxes (ugh) to staff insurance to redecorating the ladies restroom and much more! On the left, Diane, who’s been a senior server with us since 1985, 33 years! All while raising her wonderful children. She trains our new staff and sets the tone for great service and a wonderful work ethic. We can’t imagine being J. Timothy’s without Sylvia or Diane! Ladies, thank you today and every day. It’s our pleasure to work with and for you! P.S. After I took this picture, they made me promise never to post it anywhere. I lied!
EDIT: as of 3:20pm, we're open! /// We will NOT be open for lunch today, Thursday, 3/8. We'll open later this afternoon, 3:45pm-ish. The restaurant & most of Plainville has power, but many of our employees are without power. We want to give them some extra time to dig out and get situated. Friendly reminder: remove the snow from your vehicle before driving. Don't be this person. Be safe out there!

Power is back on! Parts of Plainville lost power for a short period of time tonight. Our kitchen & phones are back working, thanks Eversource! Sorry for the inconvenience; but it was a general outage, not just us. Anyone remember this TV Show? That's what we're doing in the kitchen right now! "We can rebuild it, we have the technology." 😂
On Presidents' Day we're more aware than usual of our stewardship of this amazing building, erected in 1789, the year George Washington was inaugurated. Some say Washington and Jefferson visited here; no proof, but we are honored & privileged to uphold their legacy in an historic CT building. We love working in this building!
