Description
Plainfield Parks and Recreation is located at 651 Vestal Road in Plainfield. The Plainfield Parks and Recreatiion Department is headquartered at 651 Vestal Road in Plainfield. This is also the location of the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatics Center, including the Splash Island indoor and outdoor water parks.
Plainfield has more than 20 miles of trails and pathways that connect our entire town. The town also inventories over 470 acres of park properties, including twelve that have been developed. They include:
-The Skate Park at Anderson Park (10.44 acres)
-The Al & Jan Barker Sports Complex (61.93 acres)
-The Recreation and Aquatics Center (26.69 acres)
-Friendship Gardens (12.78 acres)
-Swinford Park (27.41 acres)
-Franklin Park (18.67 acres)
-Bob Ward Park (.93 acre)
-The Community Gardens (20 ft x 20 ft plots for the community to use as gardens without having one in their yards. There are 55 plots in total.)
Many more acres are scheduled for development. In addition, Hummel Park (which is located within the Town of Plainfield, but is a township park, not a town park) offers 204 acres of recreational activities.

Splash Island is currently on a weather delay. After each occurrence of thunder or lightning the pool will shut down for 30 minutes. Please check back for updates, as the pool is scheduled to be open until 6pm if the storms pass.
We're at the Al & Jan Barker Sports Complex for the opening ceremonies for the State Little League Tournaments for 10 year olds and 11 year olds. Lots of excited kids wandering around!
Join us tonight for Resident/Member night swim from 7-10pm. Hurry in before summer is over, there are only three remaining! This offers the perfect time for those who live in Plainfield or have a membership to enjoy the features of Splash Island with their families during a more relaxed swimming environment. Resident/Member Monday's will be offered through July 31. Membership ID and proof of residency is required for admission.
Looking for volunteers for Little League Tournament! -- Follow the link below to find the volunteer sign-up genius set up by the Plainfield Optimist Club for the Little League tournaments Plainfield is hosting beginning July 20th. This is a great opportunity to showcase our community and to show how we can support an event and some of the youth in our community. We are especially looking for scorekeepers and announcers. Scorekeepers need to have knowledge of keeping a detailed scorebook which includes keeping track of subs, scores, pitch counts and other statistics. Both water aerobics classes (6pm and 7pm) for tonight have been cancelled due to weather in the area. Sorry for the inconvenience, we will resume nighttime water aerobics next Tuesday.
Splash Island has reopened from its weather delay. Hopefully weather clears up and becomes a sunny summer day rather than all these thunderstorms. Pool is scheduled to be open until 6pm.
