Oreland Wood is a maker of Shaker reproductions and custom Shaker furniture, boxes, and woodenware plus a small line of solid cedar outdoor furniture. Whenever possible we use wood repurposed from shipping crates and pallets.  We primarily serve the southeastern PA area but we'll ship (prepaid by the customer) to
anywhere in the continental USA.  We offer free delivery within 50 miles of Philadelphia. All others must be prepaid shipping.  Installation of freestanding pieces of furniture is the buyer's responsibility.

Just because a piece of wood started life as part of a wooden pallet doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way.  While breaking up wooden shipping pallets to use
as fuel for the wood stove that heats our shop, we noticed that quite a few were made from the same species of North American hard woods that we all so prize as furniture woods - e.g., maple, oak, poplar, and walnut.  Just to satisfy our own curiosity we milled a number of pieces to see what they’d look like once all of the grime was gone. We’ve found ourselves pleasantly surprised, even occasionally amazed at the quality of the wood that’s been hiding in these beat up skids.
What you see in these pictures are just a few of the pieces that we’ve built in our shop from these repurposed chunks of lumber. All of the pieces are just as solidly made as any put together from the most expensive hardwoods available. They may
have a bit more visual “character” than an $800 side table, but they’ll give you the same kind of service for decades to come at a fraction of the cost. And provide a bit of cachet not otherwise available at any price.
