Don't miss the current art exhibit, Persistence: Branches, Barks & Berries, on display through February 20. Artist Margaret Berry creates paintings, collages, and photo-based works using the hot wax technique called encaustic. The exhibition explores the theme of persistence in nature through the winter months. Look for the sculptural beauty of bare branches, the brightness of berries and the mesmerizing texture of barks.
There are still a couple of spots left for the upcoming photography workshop, Snowy Gardens, with Joslyn Art Museum. Capture the stark beauty of barren trees and snow-covered grounds as you snap shots of splashes of color and frame the winter wonderland within your lens. The garden is open until 5 p.m. today for winter explorers. The cafe is open until 2 p.m. and today’s special is a hearty roasted pork loin with herb gravy, homemade roast garlic mashed potatoes, fresh green beans with sautéed shallots, and a canned drink for $6.75+ tax.
Artist Aurora Robson has arrived and begun installation of a massive, 60' tall vortex entitled "Arise" for the upcoming exhibit, "Metamorphosis: From Reclaimed Plastic to Works of Art", opening January 20.
