Oakton United Methodist Church, "the friendly church on the corner", is on a busy intersection in Oakton, Virginia twenty minutes from DC.
Oakton United Methodist Church is a fun place to worship. We have two services on Sunday morning, our 8:30 AM service meets in the chapel and our 11:00 AM service meets in the sanctuary. We welcome and encourage families with children. We have a nursery during our 11:00 AM service and children's worship bags are provided for children in both services. During our 11:00 AM service, children who are in Kindergarten and 1st grade are invited to go to Gateways (a time for them to learn and do a craft on their own level) Children 2nd grade - 6th grade are encouraged to listen to the Rev. Dawn-Marie's sermon and do "Buzz words". Every week, we have a bee keeper (someone in the congregation) that writes down ten words from the sermon/scripture that morning and then at the conclusion of worship the children are asked to compare their words with those of the bee keeper (Every one wins and gets a prize!) Children and youth take an active and vital role in our worship services and in all of our mission opportunities throughout the church.

Come get a selfie with a camel! Oakton United Methodist Church is once again having a live nativity on Christmas Eve, right at the Corner of Rte 123 and Hunter Mill Road. Lots of fun and light refreshments provided. You are also welcome to sign up for a time to participate as one of the characters in the Live Nativity. Please call the Church Office at 703-938-1234.
Do you like to bake? Do you have some extra time before Thursday at noon? Bake some cookies and bring them to our church office by noon on Thursday so that they can be a part of our "Thankful for you" tray for the teachers and staff at Oakton and Mosby Woods Elementary Schools on Friday. Thanks!
Oakton UMC is grateful for each and every member and friend that has had a part in who we are and in what we do. God has blessed us with a beautiful partnership with Oakton Elementary School and Mosby Woods Elementary School. We are making a difference - one child, one family at a time. Jesus calls us to minister to the least, the lost and the last...here at Oakton UMC - we take that call seriously.
As I wind down from a beautiful Sunday morning and a relaxing afternoon - I am in awe of God's great blessings to me. Too many blessings I can't even count. My spirit is humbled as I prepare my mind and heart to continue designing a beautiful worship service for next week - a Thanksgiving Service. How would you speak your gratefulness into God's ears? What are some of the things that give you joy and gratefulness? Just curious - share them if you like, but most importantly - feel them with your being.
