Gracie Hackenberg ’18 and a team of students are prepping a race car for the 2017 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge, an industry-sponsored competition to be held in October in her hometown of Gainesville, Fla. Watch astronomy professor Suzan Edwards explain some of the science behind today's eclipse. Here in Northampton, the sun will be 65% covered by the moon. At Smith, we'll see crescent-shaped shadows on the ground. What's new in downtown Northampton? Parklets! In partnership with Smith, Hungry Ghost Bread turned its green space into a stone amphitheater and medicinal garden for public gathering. And a new nearby coffee shop, Iconica Social Club, has also collaborated with the community to create a public "parklet."
