***Because of the overwhelming positive response to the eclipse viewing in the garden, please know that the eclipse glasses, on loan from the Smith Astronomy Department, are in limited supply and will be available for groups to share when the event begins at 1:30 pm. There will be other ways to safely view the eclipse; supplies for making a pinhole camera will be available, as well as viewing tubes. Parking on campus is very limited. We suggest using the lot on West St. next to the former Smith College riding stables, the municipal long-term lot behind the Forbes Library also on West St., Elm St. (Rt 9) or other municipal lots downtown. There is no parking on College Lane. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a great community event!*** Join staff and volunteers of the Botanic Garden of Smith College in the unique opportunity to see the partial solar eclipse in the beautiful garden area next to the Lyman Plant House. A limited number of eclipse glasses will be available during the event for visitors to share and safely view the phenomenon. We will also have a hands-on activity: Make a Pinhole Camera!, another way to experience the eclipse. Monday August 21, 2017 - Systematics Garden (adjacent to the Lyman Conservatory) 1:30 to 4:00 pm with the peak show at 2:44 pm. Weather permitting.
