Friends Academy, Dartmouth, MA
Description
Friends Academy is a coeducational independent day school for students in early childhood through grade 8 located in Dartmouth, MA. For over 200 years, Friends Academy has been offering families a rare educational opportunity. As a thriving coeducational, independent day school for children in preschool through grade 8, we provide rigorous and innovative programs that challenge and encourage, set within a respectful and supportive community that cares.
From our Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood program to the individual guidance our middle school students receive regarding their placement in secondary school, we understand the importance of the relationships that are built between students and teachers.
In intentionally small classes, amid a beautiful 65-acre campus, our talented and dedicated teachers shape teachable moments that repeatedly demonstrate that there are many ways to learn, and that questions are just as important as answers.

Last Tuesday the 4th and 5th graders were treated to a presentation and activity with the founders of the National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture in Mansfield, MA. They learned about the history of specific dolls, about why it is important to preserve these parts of our history, and why black dolls mean so much to those historically underrepresented by dolls and other toys. After the presentation, the 4th grade used materials brought from the museum docents to create their own dolls (seen in the last photo). You can learn more by going to the website: nbdmhc.org
