IRS will come officially by regular mail only. Please do not fall victim to the rapidly growing identity fraud schemes targeted at uninformed taxpayers. According to the IRS, several states throughout the nation will be delaying any refunds until March 1st due to a breach in taxpayer TINs. New York is not one of those states and refunds should continue to come in as scheduled.
We have already had several taxpayers forward us emails that are prompting taxpayers to enter their information on an alleged IRS website in order to make sure their returns are processed properly. PLEASE, if you receive an emails or phone calls in regards to volunteering your information, do NOT provide anything. If the IRS needs to communicate with a taxpayer they will do it via snail mail. Look out for these clues which will signify that you are dealing with a fraud artist. -Misused grammar, -Misspelled words, -"Internal Revenue Services" instead of "The Internal Revenue Service" If you do receive any such correspondences, we would greatly appreciate you forwarding them to us so we can help assist other taxpayers in avoiding falling victim to identity theft!
As of 8:00 AM today, IRS e-file systems are back up and fully functional. We still expect no severe delay in refunds as direct deposits should arrive within the normal 21 day period. Stay up to date with us and make sure to inquire about YOUR return if you haven't already done so!
