"In Psalm 23.6, David says goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. . The verb "follow" seemed to lack passion. The Septuagint uses a verb katadioke to convey the meaning of "follow". It is not a half hearted action. Rather, the word depicts mercy as a shepherd diligently pursuing an errant sheep until it is found. Imagine the shepherd running across a meadow in pursuit, desperate to reach the sheep ahead of a preying wolf at the edge of the forest". It is better that I don't wander but it is great to know that Gods mercy and goodness will chase after me" (Linda Garrett).
