Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech educators scored high on evaluation results again this past year! The 2014-2015 School Year - - GNB Voc-Tech teachers scored in the following categories: 2.6% Explemplary, 94.7% Proficient, 2.6% Needs Improvement, and 0% in Unsatisfactory. We caught up with our Superintendent-Director, James O'Brien to ask him his thoughts on the results. He had this to say: "Although we can all find areas for improvement, the most recent educator evaluation results demonstrate just how dedicated our teachers are here at GNB Voc-Tech!"

We wanted to give you a look into some of the tremendous work done by students and staff at GNB Voc-Tech. There will be more to come . . . . . . so keeping checking back here to see all that goes on at the school. While this video is of work done by students in the construction trades, we want to point out that our students in the Media Technology Program have filmed, interviewed, and edited this footage. They are learning so much about the media field and we know that we are going to see much more from them over the coming months. This video is from this past fall (2015). The technical skills all our students are learning will serve them well as they further their education at the post-secondary level, enter the military or enter the worforce upon graduation. Kudos to all! Great work! GNB Voc-Tech - Tomorrow's workforce starts here today! https://vimeo.com/150488554

The Freshman Class was treated to a unique presentation on New Bedford History. The Program was called 'History through Hip Hop'. Topics included (but not limited to) were: Frederick Douglass, the underground railroad, the whaling industry, and so much more...... What a fun way for the kids to hear and learn about this city's rich history. Thank you Mr. Pimental (Asisstant Principal and Dean of Freshmen) for this presentation!

School is closed on Monday, January 18, 2016 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King Day celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. He is most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States. His most famous address was the "I Have A Dream" speech. He was an advocate of non-violent protest and became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He was assassinated in 1968. On this holiday, a day of service, we remember and honor Dr. King - a true pioneer in the civil rights movement. Have a great holiday weekend~
