Why "retrograde?"

The name "retrograde" was chosen for a few different reasons. One of those reasons is simply the fact that when the ideas for the studio were coming together, Mercury entered retrograde (in October 2014). The old saying goes, "Don't sign contracts, don't get married, don't use technology." This stems from the belief that Mercury is the "messenger" and during retrograde, lines of communication become unreliable. Positively, Mercurian retrograde is a great time for reflection and can be very creative, which lead to the well thought-through establishing of this studio.

Additionally, the word by definition means:
-to go back in position or time
-(of the apparent motion of a planet) in a reverse direction from normal (from east to west), resulting from the relative orbital progress of the earth and the planet

One of our goals is to help our clients achieve and maintain wellness. At retrograde, we believe in the power of ancient medicines. Massage therapy itself is over 5,000 years old! It originated in the far east and made it's way to the western world. So why is this ancient healing method still being practiced today? Because it works!

Western medicine is an amazing thing, but when it comes to overall well-being and preventative healthcare, the solutions lie elsewhere. Society maybe needs to shift directions. We need to step back from western medicine a little and head towards the east, like a planet in retrograde. We need to go back in time, to achieve a better sense of overall health, back to the ancient healing practices of the eastern world.
