PRESS RELEASE The City of Mount Pleasant began our annual mosquito control program on May 1st, 2017. Spraying will be done by a vector-licensed City employee each Wednesday and Thursday evening between the hours of midnight and 6:00 A.M. The City will be divided into five areas, and every street in each of the areas will be sprayed once per week, contingent upon wind speed. In winds greater than 10 mph spraying is prohibited. Should these conditions exist, the area will be sprayed the following evening. For questions, call the City of Mount Pleasant at 903-575-4135.

Press Release For Immediate Release City of Mount Pleasant 501 N. Madison Mount Pleasant, TX 75455 City Schedules Spring Clean Up Day The City of Mount Pleasant and Allied Waste are sponsoring a “Spring Clean Up Day” for CITY residents. On Saturday, May 13, 2017, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Republic Services at the Pleasant Oaks Landfill will be accepting refuse from the City of Mount Pleasant residents at no charge. No commercial loads i.e. shingles/roofing materials will be accepted. Residents who wish to dispose of appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, and dryers can take the items to the Pleasant Oaks Landfill. Compressors should be removed from appliances if possible. Items that will not be accepted include tires, batteries, paint, and oil. The City will not be picking up at curbside. All items must be taken to the Pleasant Oaks Landfill at 3031 FM 3417. The Cypress Basin Hospice Thrift Store at 109 N. Madison, Goodwill Industries at 2705 W. Ferguson Road, and The Safe-T Resale Store at 1014 W. 1st Street accept donations of good, clean, used clothing, small household items and working appliances. These donations may be tax deductible.
City cleanup scheduled for Saturday May 13th at the Pleasant Oaks Landfill 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. City Residents will be able to take items to the landfill FREE of charge.

PSA: Traffic Downtown will be rerouted around the Square today for the Third Annual Cinco De Mayo event. Jefferson will be detoured right on to First St back to Jefferson on 2nd. Traffic on Madison will be rerouted right on to 2nd to Van Buren back to Madison on First St. 5:00 a.m. Today May 6, 2017 until 2:00 a.m. Tomorrow morning May 7, 2017.
