Today we’re at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation talking about building disaster resiliency in neighborhoods around the metro. Tell us, what do YOU think makes it possible for people to bounce back quickly after disasters?

Meet our neighbor, Doris. She's a grandma and a medical professional working to care for her family. When she heard about Serve More's mission to lead people to do community service projects as a way of loving their neighbors, she gave us a call. Her front porch on her mobile home was rotting away and causing her some worry for not only her aging legs but for her grandkids too. Our answer? Let's build a new porch! We used what was still good on her old porch and built a safe porch for the family to use. Loving and serving neighbors means making homes safe and new again, one project at a time. Neighbors like Doris are exactly why we empower volunteers. By the way, a HUGE thanks to our friends at Paycom for the community grant to buy all the materials we needed!

Our friends at Pine Pantry have set up another location — this time in #SouthOKC at the new Sunnyside Diner on 89th St at Western. ANYONE who needs extra food can go shop the Pantry anytime day or night. Pass the word around that there’s help for folks who are hungry! #LoveYourNeighbor
