CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: An update to our post about The Windows construction closure: the start date for the closure has been pushed back to 7 pm, Sunday, July 30. (cw)
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Road crews have completed work on the entrance road, Fiery Furnace, and Devils Garden. Work is continuing at Garden of Eden and Panorama Point. The next area closed by construction will be The Windows Section, beginning at 7 pm, July 30. This closure will last up to five weeks. The entire area will be closed to all entry. You may not hike into The Windows. This closure will affect your visit to Double Arch, Turret Arch, North and South windows, and Garden of Eden. Devils Garden Campground remains closed through November. Nighttime closures of the entire road will continue Sunday night through Thursday night at 7 pm. The park reopens the next morning at 7 am. A Bullfrog sits in Salt Wash watching a passing Dragonfly. These fascinating amphibians rarely venture onto land. Instead, they prefer to remain submerged, keeping only their eyes above the water surface. (lm)

If you're thinking about a night hike, plan and prepare for safe hiking: 1) Bring plenty of water: it was still 90 degrees F / 32 degrees C at 9 P.M. yesterday. 2) Bring a flashlight and extra batteries: trail markers can be hard to find at night. 3) Hike an easy trail, maybe even one you've done before in daylight. #HikeSafe (AdA)
Arches will be open all day and night today (July 4th, 2017). Sunny skies and triple-digit temperatures are expected throughout the day. Consider visiting after dark to avoid the heat. Earlier this week a Flame Skimmer Dragonfly stopped by Salt Wash on the Delicate Arch Trail! Flame Skimmers hover above ponds and streams looking for aquatic insects and even small fish to eat. If you are hiking to Delicate Arch keep a look out for these eye catching insects! (lm)
