After the Hunt, Year-round Wildlife Management: 5/13/17 (Prattville, AL) | Auburn University
After the Hunt-- April 30th in Alabama was the last day of spring turkey season for most Alabama Counties and the end of the 2016-2017 hunting season for many Alabama hunters. After months of heading to the woods on the weekends in search of Alabama’s wildlife game species, the end of turkey season leaves many hunters wondering what to do with their time. On May 13th, Alabama Cooperative Extension would like to invite you to attend a workshop titled “After the Hunt- Year Round wildlife Management” which will be held at the Prattville Bass Pro shops inside the Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant from 9am until 2pm. The After the Hunt workshop was designed to provide science-based information on wildlife management techniques to improve wildlife habitats that can be accomplished between the end of turkey season and the beginning of deer season. Registration for the workshop is required and can be completed online at http://www.aces.edu/go/730 or by calling the Elmore County Extension office at (334) 567-6301. The registration fee of $20.00 will include lunch at the Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant. Presentations at the workshop will cover summer wildlife forages, forestry management practices for habitat enhancement, predator management, invasive plant species and herbicides, wild pig effects on native wildlife, and how to conduct trail camera surveys of wildlife populations on your property. Participants will also go outside for a session on predator trap sets and an information on trapping equipment, laws, and regulations. CFE and PLM continuing education credits are available at this workshop. For more information on this workshop please call Regional Extension Agent Chris Jaworowski at (334) 361-7273.
