Washington Park Zoo
Description
This is the only Washington Park Zoo or Michigan City Zoo page that is officially promoted by the WPZ.
The Washington Park Zoo has more than 100 species and over 250 animals in a unique zoo set near the southern shore of beautiful Lake Michigan. Currently the zoo is being modernized so that all of the animals can all be exhibited in natural settings surrounded by botanical plantings. Zookeepers and volunteers are always on hand to provide public education about the animals and the zoo's efforts at conservation and preservation.
The zoo has many unique WPA walkways and buildings, including the rotary castle and the 70 foot tall observation tower.

OMG, we are so excited for Boo at the Zoo! We've been decorating all week and the weather is going to be perfectly spooktacular for trick-or-treating with the animals. Thank you to all 42 station sponsors! Please note, that all three entrance gates will be open for members and those with tickets. Tickets for each session will be on sale as long as we have them available, but are only sold at the 2 designated spots in front of the Zoo. Lastly to allow us to prepare for BOO, the Zoo will not open until the 11:30 session.

Yesterday as the keepers were doing our closing rounds, we found that a "rock fairy" had hid some beautifully decorated stones around the Zoo. So if you are out enjoying this wonderful weather while the kids are on Fall break, consider a trip to explore the WPZoo. Happy hunting and be sure to post what you have found.
