TRAFFIC ALERT: Today, the 8th Annual Dan Ford Road Race is taking place in Methuen. The race will start at 11:00 am on Pelham St. under the Rt. 93 bridge. During the race, traffic will be affected on Pelham St, Hampshire Rd, and Cross St. Officers will be assisting with traffic and ensuring runners are safe. Please use caution this morning in this area and take alternate routes if possible. Good luck to all of today's runners !!!

Here are a few pictures from Officer Matt Tarness who is attending the annual Police Week Ceremonies honoring law enforcement officers around the nation who lost their lives serving their communities. These pictures are of the 2016 Police Unity Tour. This May, there were over 1900 members nationwide who made the trip, and donated almost 2 million dollars to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.

UPDATE: We have located the owner of the dog. They are in route to pick him up at the station. Thank you very much to everyone who shared our post. That was quick and thanks to one of our loyal followers, we found his owners via a Facebook message tip. Do you recognize this dog? This cute dog was found on Forest St. running loose. A concerned citizen called the police station and we brought him back to the PD. He is very friendly and currently in good hands with Dispatcher Ventrillo but we would like to get him back home. He is wearing a tags from a veterinarian's office but we have not been able to locate his owners. If you know who his owner is or where he lives, please call the police station at 978-983-8698
MA Lost Pets
UPDATE!!! Mia has been reunited with her Family and is a Happy Girl! Thank You for all of your shares! This is Mia. She is a Pomeranian, about 6-7 pounds, wearing a pink collar. She is very friendly. Be on the lookout and help get this missing girl back home and safe. Please share and call (603) 234-5673 if spotted or found.

UPDATE: Alianna has been located and is safe. Thank you to everyone who shared our post!! Please help us locate Alianna Moriarty. She has been missing from Methuen since April 24, 2016. She is a 16 year old white female, 5'9", 140 lbs, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a nose piercing and goes by the nickname "Ali." She may travel to Haverhill, MA or Lowell, MA. National Police Week
For the past 25 years, Officers around the Nation take part in recognizing, honoring and remembering those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. National Police week 2016 is from Sunday, May 15, 2016 through Sunday, May 22, 2016 and will be recognized by numerous events in Washington DC and around the Nation. MPD Honor Guard Posts Colors at Little League Opening Day On Sunday, the Methuen Police Department Honor Guard posted the colors at the Little League Opening Day Ceremonies. Our officers appreciated the opportunity to participate in the festivities and we wish all the players a good season !! Have fun and "Play Ball." Axon Body Camera Training Begins For All Methuen Officers: Today, we began training all full-time police officers to use the department issued Axon Body cameras. Doug Darien, a representative of Taser, is on hand to conduct training along side Methuen Capt. Kristopher McCarthy, Sgt. Thomas McMenamon, and Officer Derek Licata. Also on hand is Attorney Matthew Segal from the Massachusetts ACLU. The department consulted with the ACLU when drafting our department policy. In a few weeks, all patrol officers will be issued a body worn camera.
