People use Facebook to stay connected with friends and family, to discover what’s going on in the world, and to share and express what matters to them.

As a career recruiter, I could have landed in any industry. I fell into recruiting during college and quickly realized I have a passion to help others move from point A to B in their careers. I made the move to tech because of its dynamic nature and the ability to solve problems very quickly with limited resources, much like in the military. I joined the Facebook family shortly after a deployment in Southwest Asia for the Air Force Reserve in 2016. I appreciate Facebook for valuing my life experiences and not just my skills for the role. I've been able to utilize my leadership and project management experience from the military to lead recruiting teams and Veteran recruiting events. As a recruiter focused on engaging the Veteran community, I mentor transitioning Active Duty, Guard and Reserve members and connect them to career opportunities at Facebook. I make an impact each day by helping my fellow recruiters understand the skills and military occupations that align best with each team at Facebook. Facebook provides an incredible support system for Veterans and Active Reserve and Guard members, giving me the opportunity to have both, a successful career in tech and continue my service in the Air Force Reserve. -Alex R., Candidate Engagement Program Specialist in Recruiting We're looking for great leaders to join our recruiting team: http://fb.careers/recruiting #bytesizebios #facebooklife #fbvets #facebookcareers #USAF #veterans #buildcommunity #VetWorking #fbrecruiting #jobs #careers #joinus
We'd like to congratulate Santiago Pina Ros, a software engineer on our WhatsApp team, for being named on CNET's Top 20 Most Influential Latinos in Tech! A little bit about Santiago: "I joined WhatsApp and am currently working on video calling. Since we released the feature, I have been able to be a part of family birthdays and other important moments too. Knowing that millions of people can see their friends and families from a distance, thanks to the work we do every day, makes me very happy and proud of the work we all do at WhatsApp.” See the full list of most influential Latinos in Tech here: https://fb.careers/CNETSantiago

I was always curious since childhood, constantly asking questions, so data engineering was a natural career path for me. I grew up in a boarding school named The Scindia School in India and came to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for a BS in Computer Science. I had the opportunity to be the first Data Engineer in our Facebook New York office. Facebook has offered me mentorship, manager support, and unique opportunities to grow into a data leader. I'm able to uncover important insights from data that are leveraged to not just make important business decisions, but also influence product decisions. I've also learned a lot due to the challenges that come alongside working with such an unprecedented amount of data while taking the privacy of people who use Facebook very seriously. One piece of advice that I would like to share with other data engineers is to always think about the big picture, look for signals in the data to identify growth opportunities, and find ways to tie your work to solving meaningful problems - both for the people using your products and the business - and to help your company realize its mission. I'm really happy to be in a space where I can work on problems of scale alongside doing work that is changing the lives of billions of people every day. My journey at Facebook has been really fascinating and impactful - I think everyone should be able to experience this at some point in their career! -Rohit G., Data Engineer, Facebook New York Interested in joining our Data Engineering team?
