Fat Hill Brewing, a 7-barrel craft brewery, opened downtown Mason City this December.   Fat Hill Brewing, a 7-barrel craft brewery, opened downtown Mason City this December. Its brewing facility and taproom in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a variety of live music and special events.

Fat Hill Brewing got its name after we realized Cerro Gordo means Fat Hill in English.  We wanted a name that would have a special meaning to locals but also be appealing to visitors and we think we found the perfect one.

The taproom sells pints, flights, crowlers, growlers, and kegs on request.

Please see Tap Room page on our website for info about holding your next private event with us.  (http://www.fathillbrewing.com/tap-room/)

Our tonight-only infusion experiment is a shout-out to Brewer Jake's mom, Peggy, who makes crazy good chocolate chip banana bread. Hefeweizen has a touch of banana in taste and aroma already, so we are adding chocolatey cacao nibs to it and will see what we get! Will it be as good as Peggy's banana bread? Try some tonight to find out! (No crowler/growlers of the Randall beers.)

We had such a good time with our sold-out Iowa Cheese Flight Night we're doing it again -- this time with Wisconsin cheese! We're pairing four delicious cheeses from around Wisconsin, "America's Diaryland", with four taster size Fat Hill Brewing beers. Different flavors in the cheeses bring out flavors in the beer you may not have noticed before. It's a fun way to re-learn a beer you're already friends with ...and an easy way to try new ones. Your $20 ticket price includes the cheese flight and accompanying beers (four types of cheese/four beers) and a few crackers/fruit/nuts as well to refresh the pallet in between tastings. No substitutions. Tickets are required for this event. Walk-in requests for cheese flights unfortunately cannot be fulfilled. Due to space restrictions in the brewery and cooler, we are selling exactly 50 tickets and no more, so if you're interested we suggest you buy now. (If you're wondering why half the tickets are already gone, it's because we announce ticketed events to our newsletter subscribers first. Follow this link to subscribe to the newsletter to have first dibs in the future! http://www.fathillbrewing.com/email-list/) Come in any time we're open on Wednesday, August 30 to claim your goodies! We open at 4 PM and close at 11 PM, so please come not later than 10 PM so you have enough time to enjoy your flight at a relaxed pace. Ready to reserve your spot?
