The Life Building Center is underway. The center will offer opportunities for homeless individuals in the community to become self-sufficient and regain stability in their lives. The facility's parking lot will be redone to meet with ADA compliance and to better assist those in need in our community. Here are some pics of the work that's been done so far. This project was made possible by partnerships with Yuba and Sutter Counties, Hands of Hope, Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation, The City of Marysville as well as several businesses and private citizens, including: Yuba County Office of Education, Recology Yuba-Sutter, Richard's Tree Service, Teichert, Big T's Tree Service, H. Miller Trucking, Tierney Family, Russ & Donna Clark, Beale AFB Service Members, and our Yuba-Sutter YouthBuild AmeriCorps Members. The goal is to end Homelessness. It will be a continuous hand up effort. We will improve lives. Let's do this Yuba Sutter!

Prisoner Turned CEO Now Turning Lives Around

YouthBuild is about second chances and this story is such a great example of that. Our organization has really enjoyed running one of the 260 programs in our nation and being a part of that change for the youth in our community.

To the Yuba-Sutter Community, As it gets further and further into December, I can't help but feel the Christmas Spirit. Seeing the bell-ringers of the Salvation Army standing at store entrances with big rosy smiles. Watching the litany of twinkling lights that adorn homes and shops. Driving through neighborhoods teaming with decorations of Santa Claus and the Nativity Scene. Excited kids attempting to be on their best behavior. Spending time cooking and shopping with your family. Events that make you look at all the things and to all the people you should be thankful for. One of many things I am thankful for are the people in this community. I had a vision for Habitat for Humanity that I wanted to achieve and could not have accomplished without the help of so many people. People, who by far, are more responsible for Habitat's success than my own. People who saw something in my vision of Habitat that I could hardly see myself, and this faith became my fuel allowing me to continue forward. So on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter, I would like to thank the community, our donors, our volunteers, our Board Members, our YouthBuild students and the staff members that make up the Habitat team. Over the last four years; through countless struggles, failures and triumphs, our small organization has bloomed. As such, several families will get to spend this Christmas in both, new homes, that will become a life-long legacy of change for their family; while others will be able to enjoy the comforts of a home brought back from disrepair to sustainability. And we are not done yet. We will continue working through the holidays and into the new year to keep the mission of Habitat for Humanity going strong. New staff will be coming on board along with great new partners to expand our services and our mission of ending homelessness and substandard housing. This will include opening a self-sufficiency center for the homeless and completing a project that will provide more homes in 2017 than all the homes in the previous years combined. So thank you for all you do and thank you for helping me to serve such an awesome organization. I wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas, Joseph Hale, Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter
