Jail Correction Crews team up with Indiana Dream Team IDt workers as Spring clean-up starts in earnest at Old Town Waverly Historical Park. Jail Correction crews are working hard to get the 1st 2 mile section of the River Trail cleaned-up and ready for paving later this spring. IDt workers will soon have the rustic education building and the new black smith shop finished and ready for visitors. If you haven't visited Waverly lately you might be pleasantly surprised at the things that are happening there. Kudos to the Morgan County Park and Recreation Board and Kenny Hale for there efforts.

Jail Correction crews stay busy as work continues on the new general store at Jimmy Nash City Park. While unusual findings on Bain Road clean-up keeps the job interesting. While picking up trash along Bain Road last week workers noticed a cooler sitting at the edge of the woods. From where they were they could see the top was wired and taped shut. Feeling this was a little suspicious Officer Hacker who was in charge of the crew had the workers stay back while he took a closer look. Upon reaching the cooler he could see that a hole had been cut into the side and inside the cooler was a little blanket. Outside sit an empty container which at one time or possibly occasional still is filled with food for whatever little critter as made the small trail he found leading to the cooler from the woods....

Our Jail Correction Crews do a multitude of community service projects weekly. Some like helping build the new general store at Martinsville's Jimmy Nash Park or building kennels for the Morgan County Humane Society are rewarding and benefit many. Other projects like cleaning county roads come with man made hazards... if it isn't bad enough some people choose to throw their trash in our county ditches some also throw dangerous debris out too. Our crews have found many syringes, portable meth labs, marijuana, and used condoms. All of these can be hazardous if we aren't careful in collecting and disposing of them properly. They can be hazardous to you and your family as well if thrown on your property and accidentally stepped on or picked up by an unknowing child. Please help us help you and report anyone you see littering. Dispatch non-emergency line- 765-342-5544.. Also, please slow down when you see us working in your area... We plan to work in the areas of Bain Rd, Big Hurricane, Goose Creek and Nast Chapel this coming week.

Our Jail Corrections Crews have started our annual county road clean up. We have been busy on Keys Road, Blue Bluff and Cramertown. Please slow down for our staff and workers. We do our best to restrict traffic flow as least as possible. However, with the number of vehicles on the back roads and the speed they are traveling It can be a dangerous work environment. So help us help you by being a courteous driver. We will be working on Wilbur, Shelton, Bain, Big Hurricane, Goose Creek and Mahallasville in the near future. Sadly we can not keep up or even make headway with trash pick up due to the ridicules amount of trash people throw on our roadways. This is your community, fight back. Don't let someone else defile or abuse your envirment. If you see someone dumping or throwing out trash please report them immediately. Dispatch's non-emergency line 765-342-5544. Become part of the solution not part of the problem! Residents are encouraged to help with the clean-up... Make it fun with a neighborhood challenge or a community service project for your church youth groups, boys and girls scouts, or even adult organization community service project etc... We would be happy to assist by collecting your sacked trash and discarding it for you. Just contact: Volitta Fritsche, Morgan County Sheriff's Work Release Administrator at vfritsche@morgancounty.in.gov or 765-318-0047 to coordinate the effort. 35-46-3-2.1 Littering is a Class B infraction ...(Evidence that littering occurred from a moving vehicle other than a public conveyance constitutes prima facia evidence that it was committed by the driver) 35-45-3-3 Throwing cigarette (cigar, match or other burning material from a moving vehicle) Class A infraction
