Lark's Song, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a vision to courageously co-create a world where people purposefully choose life and aliveness.
Our mission is to do realize this vision by empowering individuals and organizations to create positive transformative change in their lives and in the world through participation in our programs and services.
Why the name "Lark's Song"? Larks are small birds that build their nests on the ground, rather than in trees. They are birds of equality with males and females caring equally for their young, protecting and building their nest, etc. Lark's appear to be twice their actual size when flying, and come together in small groups called exaltations to accomplish meaningful tasks. They don't fly south for the winter, but instead endure harsh conditions and become resourceful and creative for their survival. In any sort of fight or altercation, the lark's weapon of choice is their song. Each and every lark has a unique song that they learn when they are young. Throughout historical literature and mythology, larks are symbols for daybreak and courage.
It is our desire for each person to awaken the courage needed learn and know their "song." To discover and explore their life purpose, to treat others they encounter with a spirit of respect, knowing they are of equal value with different characteristics, to approach obstacles and struggles with creativity and resourcefulness, and to collaborate with others to accomplish great tasks that they could not on their own.

Featured team member: Lara Postma Lara is known for her embracing compassion, unapologetic directness and sense of humor. She currently resides in a suburb of Chicago with her rocking husband, son and 2 Chesapeake Bay retrievers. In addition to being a coach what brings her joy is running, strong coffee, time with family, good/loud music and giving and receiving bear hugs. Some things she knows to be true: We gain control only by relinquishing it. A good cry and a belly laugh where you lose your breath are equally cathartic. And giving up on a goal just because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires because you got a flat.

Featured team member: Levi Huffman Levi’s calling to student development and life coaching began to emerge post-college while he was living and working in London. Since then, he has led many cross-cultural, educational, and humanitarian relief efforts to several areas around the world including Swaziland, Nicaragua, Alaska, Zambia, and Sri Lanka. When he’s not running marathons, eating sour patch kids, volunteering in Marion, or reading in his hammock, Levi is an avid backpacker who enjoys exploring trails and canoeing rivers throughout Indiana, Appalachia, and the wild west.
