The Longview Museum of Fine Arts is a non-profit organization which seeks to create interest in, and promote knowledge of, the visual arts throughout the City of Longview and vicinity by exhibiting, interpreting and preserving works of art and providing educational opportunities to a diverse audience.

Join us as the Longview Museum of Fine Arts hosts its 58th Student Invitational! This exhibition gives students an opportunity to display their artwork within the gallery and compete for top honors and prize money.Two-hundred and fifty works from fifteen high schools from the surrounding areas have entered pieces in a variety of categories including computer graphics, photography, mixed media, painting, drawing, block printing, sculpture, and ceramics. Winners from each category will receive a ribbon and a cash award. Caleb Bell, Tyler Museum of Art's Curator is this year's judge for the Invitational. Bell's expertise focuses on contemporary Texas art and he has recently organized several exhibitions highlighting exceptional regional talents including Tin Toys & Raw Realities, Daniel Blagg, and Ed Blackburn. With so many creative students entering this year's Invitational, you are sure to see some familiar names on the walls. So bring your friends and families and prepared to be inspired by the young talent in our area! Opening reception is Sunday, March 4th from 2 pm - 4 pm. The exhibit is on display through March 24th.

While these photographs capture East Texas from O'Neal's perspective, we hope that they also spark a memory or two for the viewers. These photographs will be up all year long. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is organized, professional, and of course welcoming. Currently, we have Rediscovering Andy Warhol as well as our permanent collection on display to celebrate our 60th anniversary! We would love to have you join us to celebrate this amazing accomplishment. The current dates and times are in need of volunteer help. Do you want to learn more about the artist behind our Rediscovering Andy Warhol exhibit? If so, you wont want to miss our movie nights! Starting this week, the LMFA will show movies related to the life of Andy Warhol, his inspirations, and how he became the Pop Art icon that we still enjoy today. Entrance to the movie and museum is always free for members. For non-members the entrance is only $5 per person. Be sure to invite all of your friends and family. You wont want to miss these amazing documentaries and films! See you this Thursday at 6:00pm at the museum!

March 1st is Ladies Night! Please join us in the ArtWorks studio for a night of laughter and art where guests will be instructed on the Japanese painting style of Sumi-e by the talented Mec Lacewell. Mec Lacewell is a retired high school art teacher with 22 years of experience. She has conducted workshops in the Central Texas area as well as our very own East Texas. Lacewell enjoys other mediums just as oil, pastels & textile dyeing on cotton and silk. For this Ladies Night she will be instructing on the beautiful brush and ink painting of Sumi-e. The ancient art of Sumi-e focuses on the beauty of each individual stroke. It is likened to “painting a poem”. Please join us for this special evening on March 1st from 6pm-8pm. The cost is $25 per guest. You can order your reservation online or call the museum. Guest 21 years old or older are welcome to bring their adult beverage of choice.
