Livingston Hoot
Description
The Livingston Hoot brings a free community sponsored music, food and fun event to historic Main Street in Livingston, Montana. The first Livingston Hoot presented FishWalk to welcome the International Federation of Fly Fishers back to Livingston - but we needed a new name and created the Livingston Hoot. We were happy to see some fly fishing people there but estimate 75% of our audience were friends and neighbors from Livingston. In addition to the amazing music brought by John Derado and the Rodney Crowell band with special guests Bill Payne, John Lowell and John Mayer, we also had food trucks and nearly every Park County non profit there providing information and fun for the whole family. Bouncy houses, horse drawn carriages and a crowd estimated at 3000 makes us think we have found a recipe that works...and we hope to bring this to Livingston once a year.
Year two we featured an extended shopping day in Livingston and opened the kid area and crafts/food at 2 PM. We featured the Fossils on a second stage and then The Tin Men and Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings on the main stage. It was a HOT day and we estimate we had 4000 people there. People responded they enjoyed the second stage and lots more food and drink vendors. Some shops complained about the street being closed longer during the day. We were delighted to be awarded the Best local festival/event from the Park County Community Journal!
Year three will be August 4th and will feature Rodney Crowell back for another fun evening. This time he's bringing along Vince Gill - one of the most awarded singers in music for a throw down street dance! We think we'll lose the second stage this year and leave the majority of the streets open til later in the day to keep the businesses happy. Watch this space for updates!
