facebook.comCOMMUNITY UPDATE - Things are growing this spring in Lisbon! We have seen several recent announcements and wanted to ensure that we shared exciting news with you. We have confimed that these developments are factual and post this in an effort to not only share good news about Lisbon but to reduce or remove incorrect rumors that are circulating. 1 - The Moxie Store has been purchased and is being rennovated. A group of dedicated Lisbon residents are saving and renovating the former Moxie store. It is our understanding that this will eventually be a pub/restaurant that is designed in tribute to the history of our great town. We look forward to seeing you there this summer 2- The former Vet clinic on Main st in Lisbon Falls has been purchased by Haggerty Realty and they will be moving their offices into that space this coming spring 3 - The former TD Bank branch on Main St in Lisbon Falls has been purchased by Rogers Insurance and they are currently renovating that space hoping to move in sometime in the coming months. 4 - The Kelly Park Development has been changed from a business park design to a residential design with a plan to build 3 apartment buildings and over 20 single family homes. The initial buildings should be up by this summer. This is fantastic news as it brings new families and new tax revenue. 5 - Despite the loss of Dairy Maid, there is a new Ice Cream shop opening right next door (Smiley's) and it is our understanding (NOT confirmed) that Domino's will be moving into the former Dairy Maid building this summer. 6- The town is investing in a streetscape design to improve the sidewalks, lamp posts and green space Along 196 from Main St to Davis St on both sides of the street. This project will tie in to the DOT project to renovate the intersection at 196 and Main St. We are thrilled to see this growth and confidence in our community. The secret is getting out that Lisbon is a great place to Live Work and Do Business! If you want information or details on any of these developments, please let us know and we will connect you to the appropriate contacts. - Thanks for all your support.

Come dance the night away with some great music, great food, and good friends. Professional photographs available. Door gifts and raffle prizes as well. Our thanks again to Lisbon Community FCU and Lisbon Police Department DARE program for their sponsorship of this wonderful community event. Lisbon - We need your help. Several months ago a group of motivated parents, and the Rec Department, approached PCL looking for support for a much needed new playground at MTM Park. Since many of our events happen at that park, PCL agreed to assist with fundraising, and this team put together and presented a proposal to the Town Council. Estimates for a new playground currently range in the $40,000-$50,000 range. PCL has asked the Town Council to contribute half of the financing for this project with a max contribution not to exceed $20,000. PCL will work to raise the remaining funds. As can be seen in many other communities, projects like this only succeed through a public/private partnership. Corporate donors need to see a commitment from the community government before they will support this kind of project with financial donations. As the Town Council considers this proposal, and the other budgetary requirements in our community, they need to hear from the members of this community as to what is important. This is true on a national scale, a state level, and right here in our community. We at PCL, along with the members of this committee and the Rec Department, ask that you please contact your Town Counselor and Town Manager and voice your opinion on this proposal. They are considering these issues in every meeting this month, and need to receive public input as soon as possible. The return of this minor investment to our community would be tenfold in that parents with young children would have a place to gather locally, events in that park would be greatly improved, and that people would continue to see Lisbon as a place to Live Work and Raise a family. Thank you for your continued support of our work, and for reaching out to your town counselor today. The attached photo is a proposed design. If you would like to get involved in this project, please contact Mark Stevens at the Rec Department for future meeting times and plans. Please share this post and help us get the word out. ~ Positive Change Lisbon Board of Directors
