West Las Vegas High School is a public senior high school in Las Vegas, New Mexico. It is a part of the West Las Vegas Schools District. Founded in 1947, it is the oldest high school in the city.It is located in the center of town, next to the Harold K Brandt Baseball Field.The mascot of WLVHS is the Don, their colors are Green and Gold. Enrollment at the school current stands at 520.AthleticsWLVHS competes in the New Mexico Activities Association, a AAAA school, in District 2. Their district includes: Pojoaque Valley High School, Robertson High School Taos High School, and St. Michaels High School.WLVHS has won 5 State Championships since 1978.Distinguished AlumniVera Jo Bustos Vera Jo is currently the Director of Basketball Operations for The University of New Mexico Lobos.Bustos spent the 2011-12 season playing professional basketball in Thessaloniki, Greece for Apollon Kalamarias.Previously, Bustos was a stand-out basketball player at Adams State from 2007-to-2011. During her time in Alamosa, Colo., Bustos not only became the school's all-time scoring leader with 1,859 points but became the school's all-time leader in minutes played and games started . In her four years, Bustos averaged 17.5 points per game and set records for most points in a game, most three-pointers in a game and most points in a half .
