Borderland Vineyard
Description
Borderland Vineyard™ is a vineyard and soon a winery established by the Kalb family on the family farm in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. In 2006 Kurt Kalb began revitalizing the agricultural areas of the farm that his parents Janet and George Kalb bought in 1946. Starting in 2008, Kurt planted the first vinifera grapevines and has been slowly expanding the vineyard every Spring with the help of family and friends. The establishment of Borderland Vineyard™ has truly been a community effort.
As plans for vineyard and winery evolve, Kurt, in partnership with his sister Karen Kalb Anderson, has started production of Borderland Vineyard™ wines using grapes from nearby vineyards. Special events open to the public are planned throughout the year. Currently released wines include 2012 and 2013 unoaked Chardonnays, 2011 and 2012 Merlot (aged in French oak for 5 to 6 months), a dry 2013 Leaping Sheep Riesling, and the 2011 unoaked Merlot called Preminée.
